Cam site glossary
Plain definitions of the terms you'll see on cam sites, from tokens and tip goals to spy shows and cam2cam.
- Token
- A site currency bought in packs and spent on tips, privates and spy shows. On big tip sites one token costs about 5 to 11 cents.
- Credit
- A premium site currency, usually worth a dollar or more, used on sites such as LiveJasmin and ImLive.
- Gold
- Jerkmate's currency. One gold is worth exactly one dollar.
- Tip
- Tokens sent to a performer in a public room, often toward a goal.
- Tip goal
- A public target shown on screen. When the room's tips reach it, the performer does what the goal promised, for everyone watching.
- Public room
- A free room anyone can watch. On tip sites the show happens here.
- Private show
- A one-to-one show charged per minute at the performer's rate.
- Exclusive private
- A private show nobody else can spy on. Usually costs more.
- Spy show
- Watching someone else's private at a lower per-minute rate, without interacting. Also called voyeur mode.
- Group show
- A show several viewers pay for together. Gold shows on Streamate are one example.
- Ticket show
- A scheduled show with a one-off entry price.
- Pledge show
- A group show where the act, price, length and start time are fixed in advance and viewers pledge toward it.
- Cam2cam (C2C)
- A private where the performer can see you through your camera.
- Fan club
- A monthly subscription to one performer, often with extra content.
- Interactive toy
- A connected toy that reacts to tips, so a tip produces a visible response.
- Pay per minute
- Billing in real money per minute, with no packs to buy first.
- Price per token
- Pack price divided by the number of tokens. A larger pack may lower the unit price, but compare each pack rather than assuming it will.
- Cost per minute
- Room rate in tokens multiplied by price per token. The fairest way to compare sites.
- Neutral billing
- A company name on your statement that does not show the site's brand.
- White label
- A site that runs on another network's technology and roster under its own brand, such as FILF on Flirt4Free.
- Chat roulette
- Random one-to-one video matching with strangers or performers.
